Nuestra historia

Vicente Sanz Wineries, is a family winery founded 1991, where we have our own Estate Vineyards.

The winery is located between the riverbanks of the Duero river and Adaja river, in Valdestillas (Valladolid, Spain). It is a part of Rueda Denominaciones de Origen(DO), where one the most recognized white wines of Spain are made. We have a 40 hectare vineyard, located on the plain of a hill with an altitude of 750 meters above sea level.

The soil is of clay below ground and washed stone on the surface. The varieties of grape we use to make our white wines are: VERDEJO, SAUVIGNON BLANC and VIURA.

A small winery has given us the opportunity to focus on quality, and we are able to take a rigorous control of all the functions and works that are realized in the winery.

For all this, we get the Gold Medal of Brussels for our insignia wine, Vicaral.

Los Viñedos

The vineyards are located in Valdestillas town (in the south of Valladolid) they are between the riverbanks of Duero river and Adaja river. We have a 40 hectare vineyard, located on the plain of a hill with an altitude of 750 meters above sea level.

The soil is of clay below ground and washed stone on the surface. The stone does a very important function, it concentrates the heat of the Sun during the day and then it is released slowly during the night, the stone get to keep the constant temperature between the day to night, so it facilitates the perfect maturation of the grapes.

The estate has a Continental climate. The temperatures are extremely cold in winter and extremely warm in summer, sometimes there is a 25ºC to 30ºC of difference between day and night.

The varieties of grape that are cultivated to create our white wines are:

  • VERDEJO, the principal variety of the zone “Queen of the white grapes.” Elegance, fine bouquets and fruity taste are some qualities of Verdejo wines.
  • SAUVIGNON BLANC, is a French variety, it is adapted perfectly to the zone, in this area we extract the wine alone or mixed with Verdejo, they obtain an aromatic excellent potential.
  • VIURA, a variety that complements the principal variety for the balanced acidity and the aromas that it has.

To elaborate our red wines, the varieties of grape we use are:

  • TEMPRANILLO y CAVERNET SAUVIGNON, the latter, also French variety, adapts to the climate and to the ground perfectly. Cabernet Sauvignon together with the Tempranillo do a few red and rose wines of an excellent quality, obtaining a perfect olfactory and gustatory balance.
